During the recording of the Flannel Animal album George began to fiddle with this song acoustically. It became clear at some point that it could stand on its own as an acoustic number. So, we recorded it. Lots of collaboration and arrangements were done together by George, Dave, and Ian on this song.
lyrics
I dream of a place So calm and gentle
Where the light Kills the darkness
And the gentle river Puts me to sleep
It’s a perfect place For us all
(Chorus) (Echo)
Let it rain Let it rain
Wash this dirt away Wash it away
My body cries My body cries
So let it rain Let it rain
My body cries My body cries
So, let it rain Let it rain
(repeat last two lines 2X)
(Guitar)
We need a little rain To make us grow
Let the rain fall Let it fall
My body cries Ooh, my body cries
Wash it away Away
(Chorus) (Guitar)
Can somebody tell me Am I the only one
With the world on my back Am I the only one
I feel so afraid Fenced in fear
I wanna break free To throw it in the wind
