The original ideas in this song came from Dave going through another one of his rough times. He came with it, and he and George worked it into this song about desperate times including a lot of the natural disasters we've had over the past several years including the terrible flooding and how we need each other to get through these rough times.
lyrics
I’m not rich nor am I poor
The water keeps coming more and more
But her river is so pure
And it quenches my thirst
We held together in the midst of chaos
No act of God could separate us
Don’t cry it’s only thunder
These acts of God just make us wonder
Don’t cry it’s only thunder
Baby don’t cry don’t go under (Guitar)
Here it comes once again
From the heavens around the bend
Lord almighty what have we done
To deserve this high river’s run
Into the surge washes our dreams
Swallowed by darkness and muffled screams
(Chorus) (Guitar)
The more I live the less I know
But in your arms I can grow
Bound together on this river’s flow
So hold on tight don’t let me go
Unto the heavens I look for relief
From golden angels to bring us peace
(Chorus) (Guitar)
